The structure on the previous page was our first to utilize pin foundations. They are a green alternative to poured concrete footers. They are completely removable and reusable. Best of all, soil disturbance is almost zero which means these can be placed much closer to trees than can traditional "dig-mix-pour" foundations. If someone wants to dig a hole near a beloved tree, tell them to pin it or forget it.
