Two 36" deep holes at 14" diameter were dug. The soil was incredibly rocky in the first 12 inches. A moderate orange clay followed. The C horizon was found at around 30" and was a dusty grey color. Roots were avoided as much as possible, and this young oak should come through the disturbance just fine.
