The entire structure rests on two 6x6 posts. The square posts were sliced into a pleasing octagon for aesthetic and functional reasons. Footings were poured by mixing one bag of cement mix with 3.5l of water using a low-speed drill with mixing paddle. This allows the cement to be mixed in the hole! Tubes were then set and the posts placed inside, leveled, and braced. Five more bags of cement were required.
