

A block and tackle with a 5:1 mechanical advantage was used to hoist the individual sections into place. First was the landing frame, left open at one end. Once that was up and level, the top flight of stairs was hoisted up, secured to the platform, and then bolted to the landing. Be sure to situate your pulley directly above where you want your load to go. This often means using two or even three strong ropes to triangulate your pulley in 3 dimensions.
